I play the lockdown a lot at my gym, and I am considered the 10th planet guy. The guy in the video teaching the move was one of the 10th planet guys in my gym before I got there. I know both the guys personally in the video, I train regularly with the guy on top who has been a blue belt for well over a year now, while the guy on the bottom doesn't train anymore. Our coach, a Black Belt under Kurt Pelligrino, says he has seen him hit this move live many times. I don't use it however, so I can't comment on its effectiveness.
thats the kamikadze no?
Is anyone doing an ankle lock using the lockdown?
just like a normal wrist lock but with your feet? :)
its such a white belt move tho ...
Yeah, that's the kamikaze.
I compete as a blue belt I haven't seen it before but it looks pretty slick to me so I gonna try to incorporate it see how it goes also ya I agree that is the kamakazi but the entry into for me is new
the kamikazi featured in the jiu jitsu unleashed book has the persons leg going to the outside...this one has it going inside...i thought kamikazi too...
Wow! Slick bullet!
I think everyone who's ever played lockdown has done this at some point.
I tried this in practice and in live rolling. In practice it was easy enough to get my head around. But I did not land it once in practice, two days in a row, tried it on everyone, sure its only maybe an hour of total rolling time so its not much to go on.
The issue I had was the difficulty getting the submission locked on. Did anyone have and success with this move?
Last month I was saying I could not land this while rolling. Recently I have started to get this quite often. Legit move.
