Eddie, I am forever in your debt.
Thank you!
Possibly guard on him, but beware of his entries from top. Wide legs is a nono. Basic guard recovery techniques can even be a nono. Maintain inside control of the legs with constant pummeling
Keep your hips back and win the head fight
I like to keep my forehead right under there jaw to monitor their movement with flattening pressure, thus not allowing them to off balance me or get under me.

Make sure you are constantly pummeling for the inside space. Don't let him get his butterfly hooks inside on any level.
When standing, remain standing at all costs and shift as much weight as you can to the foot he is attacking and "drive it through the floor", then press the reaping leg down and free your knee-line. I recommend drilling this as much as possible, just working to remain standing with a leg lock killer trying to sweep you.
When in Butterfly Guard, keep your hips sprawled out and your legs far away and look to use some sort of smash pass or get to Top Half. A strong Top half and Twister pass is preferable to mount against guys like this IMO it helps keeps your legs away for sure.
