Some Questions About Rubber Guard

Ok, I've really been giving this Rubber Guard an honest go and it's addictive. I really enjoy doing and I'm having success with it. I just have a couple of questions.

1. I'm a bigger guy and my legs are not small. I usually prioritize breaking someones posture fairly high and when they have their chest on the floor I often will go from closed guard straight up to mission control. At this point one of two things happens to me.

Either I get my foot on the hip and stretch them out

or,

I dont.

Here is my dilemma; When I get their posture broken down with a half ass Mission Control (because they defend well and stay tight with that hip) is it acceptable to move into the Chill Dog without first stretching them out. I'm having some good success skirting between New York/ Chill Dog on my way to the Invisible Collar.

Also I find myself going straight from New York to Invisible Collar, is this going to run me into problems?

Lastly is there a way to easily get the foot on the hip if my opponent shirks it off after I have successfully broken him down? I assume that I dont want my foot on the hip.

I also realize that I could move into the Kung Fu move and play Omoplatas but that is a piece that I already have in my game, I'm really trying to focus on these positions and get a better understanding of how they play together. So any advice I can get on hip control with that foot (getting it, and regaining it without losing my posture control) as well as transition advice between Mission Control, Zombie, New York, Chill Dog and Invisible Collar would be awesome.

Gerbil, I've seen alot of vids on here where Eddie talks about "fixing" his new York. Seems to be scooting himself back as well as sretching his opponent out. He also switches his right leg according to what his opponent does. Stack-hip. Back out- leg curl on back. Posture-crackhead. The latest mts has a tech from a "shitty" mission control. You will find tons of info on mts for 5 bucks. I would think you need to fix it before going down the basic path but hey I'm just a blue.

From Mission Control you shouldn't go straight to Chill Dog. First, Zombie the arm to get to New York before clearing the head to get to Chill Dog. This whole time you will be trying to control them of course, and how they react dictates what you do. If they're trying to stack you, then getting that foot on the hip is essential to keep them at bay. They may also try and back out of your guard which will require you leg curling with the leg across their back. Keeping that foot on the hip is as much of a battle as keeping them broken down. Mastering the RG and MTS can definitely answer your questions!

First off props for working the rubber guard even though you're a bigger guy! Instead of making the "I'm too big to do it" excuse I've heard many times.
Ok so its not necessary to have the foot on the hip. I big part of the reason for it is to push your opponent back to make space or to keep them from stacking hard into you. If they stack you push with the foot on the hip if they try to back away then you leg curl to keep them from "ducking out." If you can move through the basic path without having the foot on the hip then you're fine. Just make sure you are using proper technique so theres less chance of them hulking out. So if you can get the hand to the mat and clear the head to get to Chill Dog theres no reason to worry about stretching them out with that foot on the hip. If you look at the Double Bag theres no foot on the hip, its basically a leg curl.

Also if they shuck that foot off the hip the grapevine is a great way to stretch em out and make space to get the foot back on the hip.

Ive never spoken to Eddie or anything, but its quite clear that he cares so much about his students and Jiu Jitsu in general. I wish more people understood that. People need to open their minds.
But fuck those people, 10th Planet has literally changed my life for the better, the haters are the ones that are missing out.
