As my halfguard game develops I find myself getting to stoner control more often. From there the vaporizer is fucking amazing, but sadly that is not legal for me to use at my gym, especially against other whitebelts.
I recognize I can also pass from there, but that usually goes badly for me. I can't stay on top and I usually end up under someone's side control.
So I'm wondering what other options I might have from stoner control other than the pass and the vaporizer?
the pass if you have top stoner control is always their you have to pass on the side that the leg is across your body relase your lockdown and pass into side control their sno way they can stop the pass if you do it right
Start drilling your top side attacks and positional control. Stoner feeds right into that, and Lovato's should have some serious side control assassins who can help troubleshoot that part of the game. Twister side works well off side control too, if you like trucks
Yeah, the Lovatos guys will tell me to pass and then use all the shit they teach. Which will be great when i get to the point that I can stay on top of guys. :)
I'm planning to ask some of the coaches if they have any other ideas (after showing them the position). I was just wondering if any 10p guys have other options, since this is a much more common position for you guys.
I just have to get a chance to show it to my coaches. If I ask them about options from "top stoner control" they are going to look at me like I'm crazy.
Got some coaching on this today. One option I was given was to first fight for double unders. Then step my right knee over his leg so that both my knees are between his legs. Then spread my knees apart to stretch him out as much as possible and simply crawl up into mount. That gives me mount with double unders.
It felt great experimenting with it. Can't wait to get a chance to try it live.

I agree with William, though. Using Stoner Control to sweep and pass looks like your best option if the Vaporizer is out the window. If you can't keep the position, it sounds like you know what the real work needs to be focused on :)
