Hi!
New to Jiu Jitsu. Been trying the truck. Been able to get to the position (probably not perfectly), but once I get there, 5 out of the 7 times, my partner has been able to sit up and I end up losing control of it.
Any tips?
Thank you! :)

Something that works for me: grab your leg that is hooked to your opponent with your same-side hand.
For example, if you are in the truck with your left leg hooked to your opponent's left leg, grab the inside of your own left thigh with your left hand. This allows you to keep your connection to your opponent's hips while they sit up.
Once they sit up, keep that hand-to-thigh connection and use the momentum of your opponent to roll with them. As you take that ride, roll over your left shoulder and you should end up back in the truck.
Hope this helps!
Happened quite a lot when I started playing around the truck too so just a 2cents worth:
1) u have to make sure that you are beneath their hips. Meaning their hips are not too far away from you. If it is, then will gotta readjust the position.
2) controlling the near side wrist or the near side leg by grabbing the top of the toes area, makes it harder for them to kick out. (This works better I think?)
Not sure the meaning of sitting up though.
Hope this helps! Gonna be following this thread for any tips that'll help improve truck game too!!
Not sure which MTS episode explains the truck.

Maybe have a look at the YouTube link above of Master Eddie explaining the truck. It helped me previously.
Pay extra attention to how deep under the training partners hips goes so it's kinda elevated, how the legs are hooked and free legs are controlled.
This should help. =)
And yeap, drillas are killas, it's true. Lols. Gotta drill~~
The lockdown keeps them from sitting up, lotus keeps them from retracting their leg, figure 4 aka closing shop keeps them in place for the tap at step 2 and 3 of the final 3. The truck takes a long time to master some never put the proper amount of time into it. Take your time, be patient, consistent and most of all stay persistent
Yes Sir, I will keep drilling it. It did surprise me a little bit cos looking at the physiology of the position, it initially seemed like an easy lock once you're in the truck. Apparently, that's not the case, and it is indeed a long term project. Will put in the reps though :-)
Maraming Salamat, Sir Eddie! :-)
