Sucks I couldn't make it. So how was it Rick? Scott said there were loads of subs, which is not a given at a white belt tourney :)
It was dope Eddie. I helped with reffing but i did get to coach a few of my guys thanks to Epstein.
Good number of subs. These white belts lookin scary these days. I'll post a pic or two here shortly. Again, thank you, Scott Ross, and te guys at Tapout gym for making this day happen. Great experience for all involved!!

60+ competitors... Nice! How many women?
I run into it alot. I don't compete anywhere near as much as I would like to - It's one of my biggest frustrations. Last tourny I went to I was to ONLY female. Granted it was a smaller tourney but none-the-less, it still sucks. Even training in itself can be tough. Sometimes I am the only female with a bunch of guys who are pushing 200 pounds. I have no problem training with the guys, that's how I started, but it can get frustrating when the weight/strength is so different.
I am competing this weekend but I have a 6 hour drive to get there. (all of my tournaments have been a 6 hour drive to get competition (sigh).
I am done bitching now... I make the best of it because I LOVE this sport.
Hi Rachael, you speak the truth, and this is a frustration with the women I talk with. I think it would be a good idea for women like you to take the lead to create something unique. If you have the time. But, my opinion is that a women's nogi class should be marketed at a self defense class. Trying to market women's nogi jiu jitsu doesn't seem to appeal to the average woman the way it does to, say, your average UFC watching male. We'll get a walk in guy, all the time. But when do you get a woman walk into a gym that says, "I was interested in nogi because I heard Eddie and Joe talk about it."
It's a subject up for discussion, but I've been thinking about this. I have ideas, but at this point they are just ideas.
