I don't get why he would just randomly claim you as his manager, bro. I could see somebody saying "Oh yeah, I trained under Eddie Bravo for like 10 years and I'm like a 6th degree black belt in the 10th planet system!" ..not "Eddie Bravo is my manager, yet I've never met him".
Eddie, print out a copy of that email & go to his gym! Film it! It would be so fucking hilarious to watch this guy shit his pants when you come walking through the door! And then (just for the hell of it) sign autographs for everyone in there except for him for being so deceptive! Then when you get back but it on the next MTS episode! That would be truly awesome!
In wish websites/gyms/fighters like that were less common. Its their guys that suffer. A person walk into a gym knowing nothing, some fat guy tells them he knows everything and they believe him, why wouldnt they. Then he talks the talk, gets them a fight, they go in thinking their stuff is badarse because fat guy told them it was, and then they get a savage hiding. All so some idiot can prance around and tell people hes a fighter.
Its just too bad every guy claiming the be legit, doesnt have to get into a cage from time to time to prove it. I give th guy one thing, he either has some real stones, or he is so damned delusional he thought it was a good idea to fight that guy. The back story is they both teach in the same area, so the guy told Red cloud to fight him, and he did. The way the fight went, it looked like Red was a guy with about 6 months of grappling, at best.
But I do see literally waves of people with zero combat sports background "training" fighters. These poor guys generally win some lose some, because there are alot of bad fighters out there, but get destroyed when they fight a guy from a legit gym, or go to a legit gym to train, and realize, they have been wasting alot of time.
This sort of bullshit should really make people criminally liable. Nothing that would set a precedent for all coaches, but if you just straight lie about your accreditation, then every single legal option should be made available to those students who may become injured, hurt, or maimed from this shit.
I support the freedom for a person to choose to fight whether they are or are not trained however there should be an informed policy of transparency that is legally binding. Even if some guy made up his own martial art, that's fine, but he has to legally inform people that he did.
I'm a White Belt baby.................Don't f**k with me...been doing Jiu JItsu for 32 years. :)
I think I'm gonna like these forums
The problem is, the pretenders are usually the most comfortable self marketing. Iv been in a couple of gyms where the trainer was a humble guy with legitimate credentials and traceable lineage and awesome skills, but his gym was small and struggling. The cities had several other gyms each with loud mouthed pretenders who tell people endless bullshit stories about how awesome they are and their gyms were thriving. All self promotion, no credibility. Guys just getting into martial arts dont know about checking authenticity, but they lap up war stories, true or otherwise.
Theres a trainer in another gym in my city who spends so much time in his classes slagging off my trainer, that some of his students have come our classes to see what all the fuss is about and stayed. I think its up to a half dozen members now.
That is the funniest web site I have ever seen. We should take a trip down there and take a class.
