And besides. "Only one Republican has won the straw poll and gone on to occupy the Oval Office: George W. Bush"
what is so entertaining about Ron Paul coming in second by a slim margin? This is the guy that the media claims doesn't stand a chance but continues to win major polls or rank highly in them.
there are a few policies of Ron Paul that I disagree with. One is building a wall on the mexican border. That has never worked and never will. It didn't work with the great wall of china, and it didn't work with the Berlin wall. There's an old quote, "those who don't listen to history are doomed to repeat it". He's also not very environmentally friendly and has been quoted saying he does not believe that global warming is a major issue. I believe there is enough evidence that it is.
That being said, Ron Pauls other policies make a lot of sense, and one great thing about him is that he stands by them. He is also an economical genius. His seperation of church and state policy doesen't bother me because he's not shoving his beliefs down anyones throat. He's just giving people the option to express their religion. He also wants to demilitarize the U.S. around the world which will save HUGE amounts of money. And if you look at Rome, one of the reasons of it's downfall was because it overextended it's military, and the U.S. has a looooot of parallels with Rome. And remember that quote about those doomed to repeat history.
The most important part about him is that he is a genius in economics, and was able to predict many things that have happened to the economy as of late, and stood by these statements while others laughed in his face and saw him as a joke. He knows the fed is a corrupt parasite created for the sole reason of profit of few. He is a genius in this department. and I think thats what the country needs right now. And I'd be willing to overlook all those other "negative" things about him and vote for him for this sole reason.
I normally don't get into political conversations here but I'd like to interject if I may. It's not the fact (alone) that Ron Paul is a creationist that makes him dangerous. It is his complete inability to look at fact after fact after fact that completely and utterly destroys the silly 6 - 10 thousand year old earth "story" because of his religious beliefs. So knowing he already suffers from cognitive dissonance we have to expect his decision making will be marred in all facets. If he is looking to a book written by savages in a time where the general consensus was the world was flat and the sun orbited the earth, I find it hardly acceptable that he takes on the role of the most powerful man in the world. He obviously does not have the ability to look past his superstitions and make decisions based on logic, reason, and critical thinking. And with the problems America is facing - a magic sky daddy is not the answer, reason, logic, and critical thinking is.
So don't be so naive to say his "beliefs" don't affect his leadership skills. Because EVERY decision he makes starts with his beliefs and moves forward from there.
Amen!!!
amazing I agree with corky double AMEN!!
and agree with chris ludington to if someone is blatanly shown proof of evolution and science and the universe's beauty yet still CHOOSE to believe in fairy tales from a book written by man but still say it was written by GOD than I don't care who you are political leader or homeless druggie bum something is haywire in your brain the only reason people will argue is because
1) you yourself have a broken brain (lol sounds funny) and believe in fairy tales
2)you have friends or very close family who have broken brains and would not like to think such things about them so you say things like "a persons beliefs doesn't matter or doesn't make them"
now this doesn't apply to everyone only to the people who see proof and presented with evidence yet still CHOOSE to rely on faith even though science is pretty much slapping you in the face with it that's who I'm referring to
This article fails to mention the 6K concert tickets she had to give away to get these votes...and she still only wins by 150 votes.
WRT religion....you guys should be a little more respectful to people who are spiritual. I mean you dont have to believe shit but jeez its a huge turn off to see people being disrespectful to other peoples beliefs and quite frankly it makes me feel a little unwelcome.
So it's ok for you guys to be Christian but if you believe in creation then it's a step too far? You guys got on your notes "in god we trust" and I don't recall people shitting on any president for mentioning god or referring to biblical parts...
Seems like you guys are a bit bias on the subject
