What's a barnhook, never heard of it and it doesn't exist in MTS?

    Hey guys!

First of all props to Brian Barncat for the Barnhook. That is dope!

The meat hook initially started as a triangle set up. I believe Eddie says it was the first rubber guard position he starting doing. It has evolved not only as that, but also as a way to stop the guard pass and also to fire kung fu moves off and set up the go-go clinch (which keeps the mission control arm on the same side once the foot is placed in front of the face).

The barnhook, as Brian mentions, can work great to set up crocodile arm bars, muddy waters and the like, as well as clearing the neck and progressing down the traditional chill dog / jiu claw path.

Basically rubber guard keeps evolving non stop and there are endless variations of different moves that will lead you down different paths. All of those roads will (hopefully) lead to one of three possibilities: a choke, a joint lock or a sweep. Ands hopefully all those paths are reached while the opponent's posture is controlled. Pick a style of rubber guard that you like and drill it 1,000 times and see what happens!

    Hope this helps.

It’s crazy how diverse one high level rubber guard is from another high level rubber guard. Every top rubber guard player has their own unique style
