    i need some help.

When ever i roll with my training partner he guard recoverys quickly or at least slides the knee passed my hip. What can i do to prevent this so i can be confortable in side control. (Btw hes the only person that i roll with that just never lets me settle besides the higher level guys).

Hip switch to judo side control or check the knee and swim to twisted side are my favorites. If you are looking to lock in the traditional side, you need to be tight and spread you knees to control the base. I like to wedge my knees right under the hip and shoulder of my opponent.

Seems like a good question for your instructor...I'm sure he can help you better in person than we can over the internet.
