One thing I would advise (based on my experience) is to not rush back too quick. I did my knee (acl/lateral ligament tears and dislocation) when I was 17 playing basketball. Being young and dumb I went back to basketball way earlier than I was advised. Long story short I re-injured the knee 6 times in the next 2 years. The only thing that ended up fixing it was having further surgery and then listening to the doctors & physio and taking the right amount of time off. It's been almost 9 years since my last surgery and (touch wood) I have not had any issues since.
