Yup, Paulson refers to it as the "add a heel" grip.

If the knee is out, that's your first problem. If you are not setting the heel against your wrist correctly, that's probably the second problem....and as far as extending 100% is concerned...if you are even getting to 50% extension without a pop or tap, you are making some very large technical errors.

Everyone jumping all over my 100% comment lol... reminder this is a specific situation of the tallest guy in the gym trying to heel hook a TINY dude with what are practically baby-legs. The situation was definitely comical and confusing but hey thanks for the advice. I will definitely double-check my positioning next time I go to heel hook him.

The cupping the heel grip Kevin mentioned is my highest % way to finish heel hooks. I don't know of any videos explaining the grip but I used it in my match here, you can see how I use that heel grip (power heel hook, we call it) to place his toes into my armpit then my other hand wraps underneath that "heel" grip. Hard to make out where my free hand goes in this video but you can see the heel grip and the toes going into my armpit. No need to be cranking 100%, once the toes are trapped and you have proper hip orientation on his knee, the pressure on his knee combined with him not being able to rotate his foot is enough to do damage.

Heres a picture of the grip in use BUT he was running at the time and I didn't have a good entanglement on his leg for the finish.
