I never learned Jiu Jitsu

Whats going on everyone!

My name is Aaron and i'm a collage student and I have never taken Jui Jitsu, but I have wrestled competitively in meets ect... So I have a small foundation and understanding in some of wrestlings' principles, that would transfer like hip control and no gaps but I have no clue where to start! I am joining a Gym in Denver(Recommendations?) in a month. I get very motivated when learning somthing new and I wanted to shorten the learning curve so I joined 10th planet. My question Where do I start?(videos threads?)

having a wrestling backround u should pick up the body movements and such pretty quickly. you'd have good takedowns or atleast better takedowns then some one starting from scratch, the dominancy of wrestling and when shown a move u shouldnt be all over the place not knowing whats going on. i would concentrate on the basics and understanding the technique

As a wrestler you're fairly comfortable getting off your back. For jiu jitsu, you'll want to start every match on your back until you are comfortable being there. Learn the rubber guard flow and also learn butterfly guard. Your drags from butterfly are awefully similar to those while standing.

Def start with getting comfortable with escapes from ur back (that don't risk submission, some wrestling escapes expose ur back or next excessively) also get the feel for working guard and half guard on ur back. U can work on some subs from the top too (being a wrestler the arm triangle will be easy to pick up see Chael Sonnen on Stann) as well as basic armbars and kimuras.

Im starting to get a feel gerneraily what some weekness that might occur and where I might not be comfortable thats vital Thank YOU positive energy!

I must say very well put sir : ) I like how you gave me specifics on people and moves. I can't wait to start i'm stoked and you where kind enough to help me out I your not a good guy I don't know what is!
