This is exactly what we did in Hartford. Saved us close to $1000 to mat 600 sq ft vs. purchasing professionally made mats. Definitely worth it

No the vinyl is fine...no burns...only issue is if your gym gets hot then the sweat can make it pretty slick. After class we sometimes have slip and slide competitions.
