why isn't an american flag considered a symbol of war crimes?

The United State still exist. The rising sun flag was the flag of the Japanese imperial military not the current nation of japan, who's flag is still a red circle rep the the sun but without the rays.

Besides that i'd say the only people that the US fucked over like japan did to other asians would be the native americans/first nations/whatever they prefer to be called and know one seems to care about them.

Anyways, I don't think KZ's request is unreasonable. I'm not one for political correctness, but I am one for cultural sensitivity. I've been on the bad end of racism before, even despite my white skin, so I know how it feels to simply want equal respect. I honestly didn't know that the rising sun was a negative symbol for S.Koreans.

That said, GSP is a stand up guy and I'm sure he'll be cool with not donning it next time. I'm sure to him it just represents his kyokushin roots and martial arts.

Korea was arbitrarily annexed by Japan and was oppressing Korean people as whole (North and South), long before WWII even started. There is a huge and violent history between the two countries.
