    Isosceles Triangle & IBJJF rules

After watching the latest MTS I was wondering, would the Isosceles Triangle be legal in IBJJF tournaments?
For me most tournaments here in Germany follow the IBJJF ruleset so neck cranks are banned unfortunately.

It has the *potential* to choke so it should be legal, even if it's mostly a neck crank right?
The triangle itself seems like a great option, since you give less room for escapes, so I'm definitely trying it out.

Hard to say but it looks like a triangle choke attempt so refs may not even realize you're neck cranking them

No ref in his right mind would DQ you for that.

Chances are you wont get DQ'd. Most of the IBJJF refs are blackbelts and have little to no empathy for the system, so they wont even know whats going on.

True that...we should get a video compilation of all the submissions where the ref looked bewildered as to why the person tapped. I think I recall one of Ant's where he invisible collared a fool and the ref threw his hands up, like what happened.

I'm thinking if you shimmy your hips toward the back of their head you would be able to get your calf on the carotid. It also looks like you have a shotgun armbar available. If you're worried about the crank, I think there are a couple options that would pass the IBJJF rules with no question.

The way I do it it's a nasty neck crack but if you are worried just turn it into a triangle

Technically, choke with neck crank is allowed. The rule was developed because a lot of complaints about guillotines turning into cranks. Or RNC's being cranks. They can't through out the tech, so they just allowed it as long as a choke is involved. So since it looks like a triangle, it is a triangle. And crank away.
