    Very Sneaky Closed Guard Pass!?!

*This is a sneaky little closed guard opener that I have been using for years. You can submit you opponent if they refuse to open there feet...generally I use it to open the guard and pass.<< From the Blackbelt who posted the video*

Nice. Something sneaky to try at least. As the rubber guard player, once you get a feel of the opponent doing it, it's going to be pretty easy to react by grabbing a higher guard and securing a better position each time the person tries to jump there legs up as they will have to give away their base to attempt it. But if it catches you off guard, looks like it might work.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Gene or Gokor teach something very similar before.

Definitely something to try, especially deeper into a match when your opponent is tired. But, damn...that's a really low guard.

    Didn't work on Denny

(Not saying this isn't a legit tech btw. I just remembered seeing it in one of Denny's comp videos recently )

We have a few guys in our gym that are good at this pass. Another one for longer leg guys. Catch wrestlers use this as well... The friction from their wrestling shoes helps. Not the easiest thing to hit for me... Ive never gotten a tap off it either but they usually just transition to open guard.

My coach uses this all the time and has good success with it. About half the time I try it I end up getting swept, but it's a work in progress

As Zog and Adlai have both alluded to, this has been around for a long time.
