This was a local Freestyle Judo Tournament in Decatur. All the entry fees went to charity, so we were all glad to help and get some interesting competition. I had 3 matches and took gold.

This match was against one of my training partners (and Nibiru Forum member) William Schrimsher. William is a newly minted Judo Black Belt.

This one is a finish that I call a Punch Choke. One of my top submissions. It's really similar to a no-gi Ezekiel, but the hand placement is inverted.

Really wish I'd been able to see the hand placement in the vid. Any chance you could explain it a little more please? I love ezekiels in the gi but have never managed to get the no gi variant to work.

So, funny story, BMac hasn't punch choked me in a WHILE. I'd figured out a way to stuff the choke and ride it out until he moves on because it isn't working.
Unsure of the Judo specific rules, he asks me if it's ok to do the choke, while we're on the ground... Confident in my ability to defend, as I had been doing, I say, "Sure! Go for it!"

The collar to my gi got in the way of me pulling my hand through to defend like I normally do.

I lost because my gi made a no gi technique more effective
