I've been stricken with staph, its embarrassing, its gross, its hard to get rid of, its a total nightmare. I know it's not a fun thread, but if anyone else has a story with staph put it up.......I know I'm not the only one....

almost lost my arm from mrsa. Before I even started training at a gym. Got it while working at an aquarium and got attacked by a sea urchin poked pretty badly and guess the mrsa was already on my skin. The MD said that about 30% of people in San Francisco and pretty much any other big city have mrsa on their skin. There was a mix up at the lab that was culturing it, I didn't respond to the first antibiotic and I was allergic to another. started as a small puncture wound on my left elbow and my entire arm ended up red and swollen to almost double its size. They had to cut it open and do some scraping and digging but they found a drug that worked and I still have both arms.
my cousin cut his foot and walked into a public toilet in thongs, few weeks later was in hospital with golden staph. Got to the stage where the doctors said we can't do anything else, but he pushed through with a full recovery.
I've had it before and I can't say that it was any where near as bad as some of the stories I've heard. Just really unsightly and embarrassing. No fever, no lengthy hospital visit...just unsightly pimple looking things that took forever to get rid of.
Sam you know how you got it? I have never had it ( knock on wood ) one reason for long sleeves and pants or tights, dunno if that blocks it but seems to help :-/ and if you have a dirty gym (like not bleaching matts a few times everyday) or dirty people to train with your chances are higher. I won't even roll with someone if they are dirty/smelly. sorry man that stuff is horrible
I've had 6 knee surgeries in the last 2 years and I had staph inside my right knee which tore up the cartilage in the knee. I could have died from the infection if it had gotten into my blood stream and spread to my lungs or brain.
Colloidal Silver kills staph as well as a light treatment that was developed here in Hungary called the Bioptron light. Between the two and the antibiotic that the doctor prescribed I was able to get rid of the infection and avoid a sceptic surgery to get rid of it that might have left me with a fixated leg that would not bend at the knee.
Now, I am waiting to meet with the #1 doctor in this country to see about corrective surgery so that I will hopefully be able to walk without a cane and finally get back to training full time !

Isn't anything to the time I fell off of a building 5 floors high. Just proof that humans can't fly no matter if you have your eyes closed or not.
