One of my favorite no-gi matches from last year. Here's a great breakdown of the match and all the positions and moves involved.

Thanks for all the information guys. I've been working pretty hard on it for last 3 weeks now. I'm starting to be able to get into spiral much more consistently these days and I'm not getting subbed by the foot locks. I totally appreciate all the feedback!

There really is a lack of instruction on the spiral gaurd/RDLR on Youtube, no gi is barely covered

Someone needs to corner the market

I'm trying to get my coach to make some DVDs on this. His DLR/SG (De la Riva / Spider Guard) is absolutely dominating, and I have seen him use it to demolish the highest caliber of high-end black belts at top competitions. His DLR/SG completely off-balances you, and sets up really fast, efficient transitions to whatever he wants ... deep half, x-guard, spider, the back, sweep, etc. If it ever happens, you guys will be the first to know

There is no difference. If you see "Caio Terra" guard same thing as well.

Honestly there isn't much to do with it in no-gi other than the 3 basics.
    1. Beijo de dragao (kiss of the dragon) spin under to back/sweep. The one all the Atos guys, Cobrinha, and Terra do.
    2. The arm-drag back flip sweep. Basically the Shaolin sweep but from RDLR. Gui Mendes is famous for it. He does it at 0:25

    3. Using it to come up on a single leg takedown.
This is the best RDLR instructional on the web. Caio Terra's half guard dvd covers a lot.
