Does technique have a weight limit?

We been working hard everyday to get Cora ready for this submission only tournament in Jan. There has been some improvement. But it seems like no matter the amount of drilling we do, the amount of weight/force/strength is still making her forget what we just worked on. When getting smashed, it seems like all techniques went out the window. Is this common? We been working specifically for the bigger boys.. side control escape/ guard recovery (C cup), deep half to get out of mount, and granby roll. And of course, defense...defense.. and more defense. When she can remember to use them, it work, but when smashed on heavily, all that seems to go out the window. Also we find that its hard to do the super shrimp as her knee is hitting their thigh instead of the hip. Is there any other way to place her knee so that she can catch the hip when they turn? BTW Happy Thanksgiving to all my 10thplanet family..:)

Cora is 77 lbs
Boy is about 110 lbs

Reason why I brought this up is because I'm not sure if she is absorbing what we are working on since there isn't any high level kid her size to practice on, except for this boy.

All techs have weight limits, that's why there are weight divisions.

Until Cora has a technique ultra mastered on kids her size, those techniques won't work on bigger people.

Master techniques on smaller people, then slowly work your way up in weight :)

we just don't have the luxury of small kids. Well there are small kids her size, but white and yellow belts whom doesn't or can't pass her guard..:( The only one we have is this boy. She has NAGA on Dec 15th and hopefully she will have kids her size in that tournament. NAGA will be just 2 weeks before Battle 4 the Ages, hopefully we can see if all this is seeking in. I just finished watching MTS 63 all over again and there are a few things we been missing. More drilling....:) I have a house full of family over for Thanksgiving, but I'm studying videos..LOL

along with your side control system (c cup to Heisman), I want to incorporate the underhook from this video also. I guess preventing the side control from a big guy is much easier than to try and get out of one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWr571NtoYc

Barncat is a master of dealing with bigger and stronger opponents. Might be worth the 1.5 hour drive to seek out his insight.

Yup I think if you wanna get Cora that edge for the Tournament that she has to do where she's going up against bigger competitors she may need a pointer or two from Brian Debes to tighten up any game.

yeap. Been in contact with Brian. Just waiting for when his gym open up.... can't wait...:)
