First 10th Planet Experience

Today was not only my first 10th planet class, but the first training class I've ever been to for this sort of thing. I loved it, I cant wait to get back in there. It almost felt addicting, so physical and mental.

When I watched The Twister movie by Eddie, just listening to him talk about his old matches made me feel as if this could be for me. When I came into the 10th planet gym everyone was so friendly. So open and helpful. I apologized a few times for not knowing what to do and such, but I was told to stop apologizing and just let it go.

The class was with Jon Botello, 10th Planet Phoenix. He was no exception. He made me feel as if he wanted me there. He seemed very skilled. His demeanor made it feel like he was just another student rather than a teacher.

I am not any good at this yet, but I gave it my all. Maybe it was me pushing myself, or maybe it was all the help. It might have been the excitement everyone had or the knowledge they were trying to share. Whatever it was, this was a bit of a spiritual experience for me. I couldn't believe that it felt so great. I'm glad that I was able to take part in this class.

Bjj and especially 10P is what I go to when I want to block out the rest of the crazy world, it is my drug of choice. And like a strong drug, it has wrecked my physical body...but what can I do, when it has control of my soul? I still go back to it, no matter how much my wife, children and family beg and plead, no matter how much therapy I have, I'd still steal from my Mother to pay for it! This is serious, at one point my family thought Eddie was the head of some dangerous cult - suppose they were kind of right on the money.

As a fellow new guy allow me to say welcome. I have been doing 10P for 3 or 4 weeks now and I love it. Prepare to have your thoughts and mind occupied with what you learn and see. Relax,have fun, and enjoy the ride. Any questions dont be affraid to ask. The guys and girls on this board will be more than happy to guide you through your journey. Welcome to the family!

Welcome to the family! 10th planet is super awesome with things like that(and everything else), when I first joined and when I see other new guys, with worries of doing things wrong and slowing others down, being a bad training partner when drilling with someone good, worried about how others might perceive them or whatever other concerns someone comes in with --- and how quickly all that disappears because of how close a family everyone is, how positive and motivational and about each others growth, how happy and excited people are to have new people aboard and everything else.
How 10p do ;D
