IMO leg squeeze
Just noticing that leg control/manipulation before reaching the spiderweb will combat multiple types of escapes rather than just stopping them from getting to their knees
#1 both fighters should've controlled the legs right from the swim to the tap from arm crush/arm bar
#2 feet weren't crossed in the correct spot
#3 leg curls were too loose
Perfect spider web to arm crush/arm bar should be in all yalls DNA :)
I dont know If I would have been near swim move on the first vid. I would have taken 2 on 1 and tried to pin his far shoulder. Back widow. Stay tight.
Sorry. Posted at the same time.
Idk if its the rush of the 5 minute round or the sloppiness of modern day MMA grappling (generalization i realize that there are good MMA grapplers) but I don't see guys often take there time and really control positions like that any more. They come close and just try to rush the submission rather than follow the old adage of position before submission.
To me on the first one didn't even really look he wanted it. Looked exhausted and looked to just be throwing it half up there on the buzzer to maybe score a 'submission' attempt in an uneducated judges mind. He was only like 35% close to finishing that arm bar and didnt even really try to sink it, 't my humble opinion.
I guess everyone have the same idea in regards to what went wrong. And like Master Eddie said, spider web, spider web, and more spider web. From personal experience, I've been teaching Cora the spider web for about 3 weeks now and have seen her tap out rate went off the roof. Before when she get an armbar, she struggles to finish them as the kids are very flexible and are able to roll out of it. But after drilling the spider web, its almost a sure tap out no matter how flexible they are. And also a lot of kids kick her head when they panic in her armbar, but now since she do the spider web, she is controlling their legs and thus they can't kick her head. So for the past 3 weeks every armbar needs to come from a spider web.
its the same concept missing in the guard for most of these guys. staying tight and moving from clinch to clinch is huge for the nogi game. its just like when i see people swinging wild arm bars in mma and the guy pulls out and gets the pass. locking the shoulder first is huge and answers the same problem.
clinch.
clinch.
clinch
:)
I got it! They escaped! But really, no deep hook off the swim move and if he would have trapped that leg in Spider Web he would have probably got the Armbar.
