What went wrong with these arm bars??

Was there anything in these transitions that could've been tweaked or altered that would have produced the tap?

Its different in both but same principle. Too big of a move without a controlled transition onto a controlled position. Spiderweb should be the goal of both.

Controlling the far shoulder in the back widow (before you clear the head) Is crucial. As soon as you pass the head. Switch deep hooks and control the leg.

In the second, during the swim instead of the 2 on 1, he should grab a deephook, then grab a leg, then swim.

No control on the legs. If he would have slowed down after the swim move and controlled the position before he went for the arm he would have finished.

Without looking at the comments:

1st video: All legs. In other words, he didn't stuff the head well enough before throwing his legs up. Also, he didn't use his legs to trap the far shoulder like spiderweb. That gives opponents way too much wiggle room. And he didn't keep one leg around the face.

2nd video: Not locking the far shoulder. Losing the leg in front of the face. Letting that far shoulder roam free seems to be the common factor. Also no leg curls around the head. And pretty bad position before submission altogether.

In the first one his shin should have been on the back of the neck for the swim move. In the second on the guy escaped because leg control (spiderweb) wasn't there. The 1st one and the 2nd one the leg curls/squeeze were either weak or non existent. Thee deep hooks sucked on both, in the 2nd video he was going for a wrist control armbar....
