I dont understand why they would not allow you to sit. I sit down in tournements because I came to fight a jiu jitsu match , not 4 mins of wrestling/Judo then 2 mins of jiu jitsu. Sitting and pulling halfguard/lockdown or working a sweep is just the way I roll haha. I prefer using the full match time to try and work something..
"You have to be one bad ass confident mother fucker to walk out in a tournament and sit." -Eddie.
I like the idea of being a bad ass confident mother fucker. I'm looking to pull guard all day this weekend unless coach tells me to do something different. The way I see it, these bitches ain't seen MY guard yet and they've got no answer for it! ;) On a serious note, I totally agree -- I came here for a jiu jitsu match not a judo/wrestling match. Like Eddie said in MTRG (paraphrasing): you bust your ass training for weeks, kill yourself to make weight, pay your $60 entrance fee, then you go out there and dance around for three minutes for a takedown? Now you've only got two minutes to work for a sweep or submission. Fuck it, pull guard and let's get to work.
All that said.. If your full, half, X, Deep - guards aren't up to snuff, some people might gladly step into your guard and pass.
If that's your strongest point, then by all means. But don't think because it works for Ryan hall and Eddie that this should be everyone's choice method of attack.
I like to get the party started asap :)
hey lost i mean chronic_jiujitsu, I start off on my ass alot to but occasionally throw in a single leg when i cant get my half guard to work.
am i supposed to know what that means? lol. but yes.. i am definitely lost now.
