Meniscus tears are horrible, the inside of the knee has one of the lowest amounts of blood flow in the entire body, so not a lot of white blood cells to fix it up. hopefully the tear isn't too bad. just had meniscus repair surgery February 21st, running and all of that comes quickly, within a month. but you have to be careful with pivoting motions apparently thats when most tears occur. its been three months now and the knee is worse than before the surgery but its probably because of fluid build up and scar tissue etc. flexibility is pathetic and changes on a daily basis, if I've been training a week straight I can only get my knee to bend about 90 degrees towards my butt, but when i rest it, ice it, STRETCH IT (often), and the swelling goes down i can pretty much make my heel touch my butt maybe an inch or two away. basically what im trying to say is: avoid the surgery if you can, avoid quick pivoting motions if you can, strengthen all the muscles in your legs (this will help support the knee better), rest it, ice it and stretch it, Omega 3 (was never a big fan but i've been taking it for the past 3 weeks and it helps a lot with inflammation) and most importantly take it slow, if you do get the surgery you'll be able to walk within a week and life seems to get back to normal pretty quickly and the need for some JJ will get stronger but when you think your ready to start again wait twice as long. hope you get well quickly!

Yeah I tore my medial ligament and medial meniscus in class a while ago, luckily I didn't need surgery. I feel your pain mate just take it easy and ice it heaps and soon you can start rehabbing it, go to a physio therapist they help heaps, not only will they show you exercises but they should give you an ultra sound massage which brings down inflammation and premotes healing.

Great training today Will! Nice Carni, seems like your knee's doing pretty well!

Thanks bro! That was a nice Japanese necktie you got on me. The knee is my weak side rubber but it did feel better than I thought it would. We need to get together again soon. I think we could learn alot from each other. Transfer to Alabama!

Thanks for the support everyone!

Agreed! There are so many nuances of the rubber guard I don't pick up on since the majority of my instruction of it has been books/videos. When you had my in me in New York I felt totally safe and then bam, carni. I have much to learn. I have some friends out that way so I'll try to figure something out so I can come out and train with you guys.

Were ya'll training in Decatur? Man I wanna come up there for an open mat one day when we organize everyone to be there.

You guys are welcome to stay at my place anytime. We could ride up to Decatur or just train in the garage.
