As far as compensation goes, we don't really get anything but hazard duty pay which is not that much extra. Single guys can make out like bandits because they have no bills to pay and just collect checks. Us married types, still have mortgages and car bills plus groceries etc etc for the wife and kids.
80 ieds is a rough estimate. I remember hearing we took approx 60 first trip and i sort of guessed about 30 on this one. It was hot in the beginning, quiet for a few months, then a change in routes put us right back in their back yard.
Also FYI, I know I didn't specify that I was a Marine but, never call a Marine a soldier. That term is reserved for the Army and not to knock on the soldiers on the forum, but we are trained to take being called a soldier as an insult.
