No. Peanuts aren't true nuts; they're legumes. They're prone to contamination by aflatoxin (a toxic, carcinogenic mold), are highly allergenic, and inflammatory (on a cellular level).
If you're a big nut butter fan, almond butter is a great substitute. There's even one called "Nutmeric" which has turmeric blended into it and tastes amazing. Bit pricy tho - http://www.spreadhealthfoods.com/

Do protein shakes fit into this line of eating? I have been drinking one after every class. I figure it's better than beer, you know, for my body/liver.
I'm not into weight lifting or body building, but we do a pretty intensive warmup, so I figure the protein will help.
If you don't have access to quality whole foods immediately following a workout (30 mins or so when insulin sensitivity is highest), then a protein shake could be a good option, especially if you're doing any kind of anaerobic stuff during the workout (pushups, air squats, situps, etc.) that tears muscle fiber more significantly than shots, sprawls and such.
Whey varies widely in quality, and a lot of it is pure trash for the body. Dr. Mercola does a presentation on this and talks about the heavy metals, sweeteners and residual hormones most whey contains from NON grass fed cows (and then proceeds to sell you his brand :-P - I vouch for it though) - http://proteinpowder.mercola.com/Mir...Protein-b.html
You might also be able to find a local grass fed, cold processed whey concentrate (never isolate!) if you have a health food store around you that stocks such things.
Yeah, we do a ton of that. Our warmups are never really identical twice, but basically stay consistent. One night we went heavy on pushups: We had already done aabout 40 or 60, before we circled up and counted out ten for every student there, which was about 16 students.
For the most part it's about 40 to 80 pushups on average, depending on the other exercises.

I have a big stomach, so I can eat a lot. When on this Paleo diet, how much of it can you eat for it to still be effective?
It depends on your metabolism, but you can eat quite a bit because the foods are healthy and unprocessed. Also, you won't get as many calories per volume of food, so you'll feel full, but be eating less overall calories. For example, compare how full you'd feel after eating an 8oz steak vs eating just an order of fries. Both provide approximately the same number of total calories. Personally, I'm currently averaging around 4k calories per day just to maintain my body weight, but I've always had a fast metabolism.
