I can't see GSPs boxing being better than Nick's.
However Nick's biggest weaknesses are his wrestling and his leg kick defense. Two things that GSP would definitely exploit.

i was referring to his striking as a whole head and leg kicks mixed in with boxing is better then nicks total striking even tho he has an advantage boxing.
yo james get over yourself, the self reichous role is getting played, no BET for 10 years, lol why the Self Hate ? i've seen everything you can think of in the Hood, & that shit was happening way before BET, i personaly had guns before we could afford cable, don't blame Hip Hop, Bet, or Movies, blame the C,I,A, iran contra, cocaine & crack, thats documented & proven. Hip Hop is just another way out the hood, don't blame RAP or BET for societies ill's, that silly
first off ....no. I can be as self-righteous as I want to be. 2nd off my opinion my rules. I don't understand what your stake in standing up for a celebrity you may or may not know. I don't know him and am choosing to critique his public image. Attacking me ad hominem doesn't do anything about my argument. But all bullshit aside...I put a disclaimer in the initial thread I wrote saying that my hate on nick was founded on bullshit...so the thread was supposed to be biased..but even after that since you guys called me a hater I responded.
Now as for your argument. Yes...hood shit did come before rap and role models and there were different factors that contributed to it. Stockton is not a hood. Hood mentality has been exported as the image has been put together and marketed by record execs and clothing manufactures. Yes, the CIA poured drugs and guns into urban communities, absolutely, however there is not ONE cause of urban blight. My point was specifically speaking about those who glorify the culture and in effect market it...not how it came to be.
You can't blame anyone or anything on this topic, not the C,I,A, not Iran Contra, not cocaine & not crack. Individuals make choices, they are the ones to blame for those choices. As far as BET and gansta rap goes, it definitely promotes the "hood menatlity" that is anti-education, pro hard drug, pro violence with in the community, pro exploitation of females, etc. but that is their freedom and right to do so, just like its James' right not to listen to, watch, or advocate it and even his right to spaek out against it, and the way it negativly impacts his community. It's definitely not self righteous or self hating.
Young guys are influenced by that BS. Sorry to burst your bubble for all you guys defending the brothers honor. (Not sure honor is the right word to use there, but I didn't know what else to use.) I see and fight guys all the time trying to live up to the thug life these and other fighters are putting out. Real class act at the start of a pro fight calling your oppanant a bitch over and over again. I have been around fighters my whole life, some of them with really bad back grounds. Growing up in areas that would make the Deiz brothers think they grew up in Beverly Hills. They all came and trained with my dad because they wanted to leave that life behind. They call it keepin it real....... Fine call it that. But I think they need to decide do they want to be gangsters or professional fighters. There is a differance.
I will end by asking a question..... how many times have we run into people that spit venom about Eddie. What do most of us do. We explain what about him or the system works for us. or we laugh and walk away. Thats what any normal person would do.
What do you think would happen if you met the Deiz brothers and started bashing Sensai Gracie. You know it's a lie if you say anything other than you would find yourself in a beatdown by both of them....... Thats a thug.
I am so glad I have been taught, real tough guys don't talk tough....they don't act tough..... they just are.
The Deiz way of life should be left to the bloods, the crips or the rappers, theres no room for it in the life of a pro fighter. And thats what I want to be. Look up the meaning of professional, you tell me if thats what Nate and Nick represent.
Ali is the king of talking shit, was he not professional ? mind games are a part of fighting, always have been, since indian warriors wearing there dead opposition's skin lol, unprofessional is not making wait, being out of shape, partying too much, lack of skills, theres enough '' boring really nice guys who where suits '' can't we save some room for dudes who just eat, sleep, train, & fight & let the suits do the Public Relations lol, Tyson & many other boxers let the promotion kiss the babies & shake hands, so they could train, sometimes fighters need to just fight & let promoters promote
Professional = signing a contract, honoring said agreement, and getting paid for it.
Every other definition is an abstract adjective. Semantics.
Hmm...Ali's case for conscientious objector status went to the supreme court. He talked shit about his opponents...but that's not what I'm talking about. Ali was a devout muslim and leads an upstanding life of charity and tolerance. To try to compare Nick Diaz with Ali is frankly a serious reach. We're not talking about shit talking...we're talking about a kid portraying a stereotype of an irresponsible young punk who prides himself on being ignorant. Ali never threatened or ensenuated that he was going to slap a reporter because he didn't like a question. Nick is acting the WANGSTA stereotype of those from central california...and the kids look up to him..but not for his hard work...for his "fuck everybody" attitude that he portrays. When he stands in front of a camera spouting a bunch of crap and threatening reporters, pushes cameras at fighters after he has won, puts his hands in the face when the doctor is observing them....that's the whole "don't fuck with the 209" attitude. From any of that...where do we get he is a high level gracie black-belt, who runs triathalons and is a 3 tooled mma guy. He even bills his school by saying come to my school and learn how to beat people up. RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT.....
you think he's acting. I think he is one of the most real dudes in fighting. Chael Sonnen is acting. Nick Diaz is just plain real.
Hate him cause he is who he is. He's not a gangster punk, he not a thug.
james try being logical, do you actually think before you speak ? post fight, nick says in quotes '' if you want to learn jiujitsu & self defense come to the academy, not everyone wants to fight like this most just want to learn self defense if so come buy '' end quote, he never said come learn how to beat people up. why make things up just for argument sake ? your lack of logic & rational gives you a very clouded perspective.
<Big Nick Diaz Fan, have been ever since he made his UFC debut and won the trilogy against Jeremy Jackson. Karo Parisyan debuted the same night and I was thinking wow the UFC just picked up two bad asses in the welter weight div. Now I have two questions. James, what specifically has Nick Diaz done that bothers you? Derrick, why do you feel the need to put spaces before your punctuations? Bobby hit the nail on the head I feel sorry for the guy he has some serious anxiety going on when they put a camera in his face and some times the awkwardness makes him look bad he should get a public relations coach and deny all post fight interviews until he has had time to prepare himself. For you guys saying he's acting like this or acting like that, bullshit hes not an actor hes a fighter and he is just being himself whether you like him or not. One more question, what specifically makes him a "wangster"?
I dont hate Nick Diaz. Im simply not a fan of his attitude. And I think this might be why, but who knows. Its the same reason I dont like Lesnar, he is an ass. They are both good fighters in their own right, but it doesnt mean I HATE them. I doubt Im being ignorant because Im turned off by someones attitude. Its just personal preference, and I dont really click well with how he acts. As far as saying anything about his personal life, I cant, or wont, because I dont know the guy. One plus I see is that he is very very loyal and respectful about his teammates, which most professional athletes in other sports cant even begin to understand.
In my life experience, loyalty weighs pretty heavy in character judgment. Goes hand in hand with honesty and dedication imo. Which he also has in excess.
Way to mediate jmw. lol
