^^^Agreed
Don't forget you have legs. The whip up comes from your legs and core, not your arms. If you are having trouble establishing double unders because he is low, use the whip up motion to bring him up to a level where yo can reach him. When I am fighting for jaws of life I use my "whip" to disrupt, elevate, and make space. Pump the legs.
Since I have a low gas tank, my game is all about the path of least resistance. If I feel like I have to muscle anything, I'm not going for it. So, yeah, whipping them around with just your legs does work, but it burns a lot of my gas tank. Especially with a strong wrestler wrapping up a tight over under with his shoulder in my neck. That's why I'm so interested in the Omaha whip.
All of the responses sound legit, but here is a traditional BJJ option I use to counter head and arm control is half guard. First I want my head free so I pummel my hand in between his arm and cup my ear making a telephone pose. Then I release my lockdown and switch to traditional half guard so I can move my hips. Once I have switched to traditional half, I hip toward the underhooked side and push my telephoned hand towards his arm in one motion and then cup his wrist as I am removing his arm from my head. I think this move is on one of Caio Terra's dvds. Once I have cupped his wrist I transiton from traditional half to Z Guard and then transiton from Z Guard to 93 Guard. From 93 Guard, it is easy to pummel the underhook. From there you can switch back to lockdown or switch to the dogfight fairly easily. Hopefully I explained that clearly enough. I don't have any videos for help on this one.
I'll get a vid up on it soon. Thanks for the support my ninjas.
