Very timely thread, my first BJJ competition's coming up in just over a day's time, and these tips are really helpful! ;)
My plan is try not to get hurt and work on what is covered in class. Short term goal I been working on is getting people off me when they have any type of cross body position on me and I am on the bottom. That involves a lot of different game plans as I am sure you guys are all aware of..:o
I started a journal but never keep it up. I keep meaning to write down all the techniques that we rep out at class, but I never think of it when my head hits the pillow.
I have been repping mentally a lot lately. Visualizations of paths. Training more than usual too. But I should write things down like i intended.
Always have a plan. I used to go in empty minded, and it's a big difference. As the roll goes you often have to deviate from the path you had set out on. But always start out with a clear plan. There's some good apps out there for making flowcharts. There was a thread on the forum on that a while ago. Mindmapping apps etc...
