That's pretty mean. Thanks Coach Zog.
Just saw ADCC post this on facebook. I think it's the same way Erik Paulson prefers, in a video he did for Stephan Kesting (though for some reason Kesting took the video down. Had a ton of options off the Front Headlock series).
Ya this is super legit, I started doing this a while ago when i decided i didn't like rolling people over me...
I've done something very similar to this but rolling just feels cooler
It's the way to go. Denny Prokopos does it this way too. This and the Rafa Mendes way are the only ways to go. Rolling under them is for the birds.

The Mendes way is the best because he uses his thigh to tighten the grip.

coach, didnt you hit me with a gator roll from north south? is there a video showing how to set that up?
love it especially on heavier guys so you aren't rolling them over your melon
I began showing this version about a year ago to my teammates. They love it,They all switched right away, I still do it with the roll first. I have been doing the role along time and it just feels so natural. If the guy is fighting the roll it is nice to go the other way and chop the leg out.
So it like a japanese necktie by trapping the leg but with a rear naked grip in stead of the vice grip... i like it i find the rear naked grip is a lot tighter very useful.
I think that's a complicated way of thinking about it. It's just an anaconda choke but instead of gator rolling to get your opponent to their back, you just fall in the other direction, no roll required. The anaconda choke has a rear naked choke grip no matter what, it's just a part of the strangle hold.
I like it
