Help--Breaking a BEAST'S grip for arm bar

hey all been a lurker here for some time and nead some help from the 10planet familey and would appreciate some advice from anyone who can help.
we recently got a new member at our gym who is INSANELY strong,i'm talking popeye OD on spinich,anytime someone gets the dude to spider web he s-grips and no one is able to break it,it's become the the goal of all of us now!
so besides from jetting in rhonda any tips how to succeed in this near impossible quest!?

just an idea but is there a variation on X-break where instead of going two handed you use other hand to hit the silverado,a sort of silver x?! or the same with douchebag for silver douche?

Check out latest MTS and watch Sam get arm crushed over and over. I felt for you Sam :) Couple of times it looks like you couldn't get it out for a second or 2 and I was wincing.

if hes in spider web then you have options, make sure you have a deep lefthook (if you're on there right side) arm crush is a killer, but you have douchebag too.

My instructor went over a grip break, though im not sure if it works with s-grip. Gable grip the opposite elbow and rake it up their arm, all the way to the wrist of the arm you're attacking. Rhonda used it in her last fight to finish.

If its an s grip, you've got wrist locks available

What I do if a guy is too strong to use x break, I'll pull my legs out a but and reposition my heels on the inside of his far elbow, lean back and stretch my legs and rip the grip apart.

Otherwise, arm crush is great. And if he's a new guy, meaning he's brand new to jiu jitsu, just sucker him into the triangle.

Like everyone else is suggesting Arm Crush and make him give up the armbar. Theres also various grip breaks that work really well. Personally Im like X Break if its not working I transition to the Triangle, dont let him roll up, lock in the triangle and pressure back to mounted triangle.

douchebag him, you can be a real douchebag and dig your heel just beneath the ear were the jaw conects.

If you are trying all these and failing, you're gonna need to change the vector in which you're attacking his grip. If you're pulling straight into his ebow strength can win. Crunch in and attack the grip iteslf, instead of pulling till it breaks. All grips are weak at certain angles.

Armcrush bypasses all that bs. But if you're properly attacking his grip armcrush is much easier to get.

I usually just lean my body towards their legs when I have them in spiderweb and pull my deep hook with me in a diagonal direction and push them away from me with my legs. I find it very hard to get and armbar pulling it horizontal. Thats just me though;)

arm crush don't tend to work on him so if the x-break/silvardo combo don't work think imma have to try all off the above untill i get that arm.
can catch him with triangle from s/web but now its become the new target at gym to break the grip and take the arm bar.
i like the thinking of trez and bobby about different angle,as been trying textbook armbar but if lean down towards legs might help,spesh against s-grip

zog teaches the yakimov grip break which is using both arms to grip break. if u have a left deep hook, take your right hand and cup his far elbow, release the deep hook and re-enforce the right hand with the left. pull both arms back and even if he doesnt release the grip you still get the armbar.

is there any tech vid for the yakimov? sounds like a total new approach?
think if the x-break/silvardo combo don't work will have a go at trez idea of hitting it at an angle as been doing textbook 90 degree armbar,but thinking on it putting an angle on s-grip is sure to help!

I have this problem a lot being the only girl in a gym full of guys. If you change the angle of the armbar, they will have significantly less strength. Instead of going straight back, position your body so you angle towards either the head or feet. The slight change makes their arm weaker so the various grip breaks will be more effective. I also x-break often and if it doesn't break the grip I can at least easily transition to the triangle. Hope these ideas help!

Rhonda falls toward the head side for her armbars. One night we were doing it how she does it, kinda sucks getting arm bar'd that way

hmmm very interesting

I use the figure four/kimura to break the grip all the time. Mostly from the back widow so I don't have to transition grips. I also don't clear his head. I just lock his far shoulder and close my 'guard'. You can literally rip his shoulder apart. Different from kimura or americana. If I lose his shoulder and have to clear the head for control I transition to deephook then spiderweb. I test the back Rousey first though.

This is what I was trying to explain, im a noobie though, haha. It forces their arms straight, so even if he's gripping still, you still get the arm.

Yeah, you just have to make sure that the arm you're attacking is in the middle of your chest, then you rake your grip around the opposite elbow all the way up the arm, and to the wrist of the arm you're attacking. Just take it out of the gi of course so they are gripping their own hands and it's great. My instructor said if he were to only teach one way of breaking the grip, then this would be the one.

I'll be trying this out for sure, works well without the gi?

Basicly same move but with that grip I'm not sure what he's tapping out to. We just did it to the standard gable grip. In that video he taps right away, doing the gable grip as you are leaning to your back both of his arms will extend, whether he lets go of the grip or not it will be a basic arm bar.

Aside from the deep hook, the single most important element to a quality armbar attack is the connection between your core and your opponents tricep. If there is any space whatsoever, you have disengaged your core from the attack.

This principle of connection is what allows for variations of the armbar position. Some people deep hook with their opposite arm and post their hand on the mat. Some cross their ankles; some don't. Some control the leg; some don't. But all good players CONNECT their core to the tricep, even if they don't realize they're doing it.

Connect. Straighten your back. Engage your hips. Grab his leg. He will never escape.

Watch Ronda. Watch Rickson. Watch Eddie.

As Bobby alluded to, there are varying grip breaks for varying grips. The angle will help to determine the most easily accessible grip break.

Get to Perfect Spiderweb and connect. Watch what happens.

Agreed there are about 12 grip breaks that we cycle through but all dont mean shit without good old fashion control! Patience is huge!

I was thinking that as well, glad t see someone with more experience say it. There has to be a pretty big size difference for someones grip and arm to beat your entire core. if you're hooking superdeep and using your whole body to peel em open, I feel like the grip will break.
