Nice!
If Belcher wins I dread to think how many 'top secret' jiu jitsu 'systems' he will come up with for him and his affiliate marketing pals to spam the shit outta everyone :)
I would LOVE to see Belcher finish Palhares!
kinda crazy even a championship contender like Belcher has to put out videos and do bjj tournaments, it must be hard as fuck to make a living in the martial arts. I'm always trying to figure out how I can use my education to stack chips and be able to make a living in jiu jitsu, it must be goddamn hard!
Sign up early to see the secrets I will use to defeat Palhares at his own game!!!!!! !1!"
hahaha and you know they will be 'limited edition secrets' too! :)
For the record I don't dislike Alan, and totally understand why he does what he does, its a tough business, I just think (not that my opinion is worth anything to anyone but me) he is walking down the wrong path with regard to his marketing etc. He got bad with it. Constant. Probably lost him a lot of his true fans. Wish him success though. :)

Honestly though, I say Palhares takes it in pure no gi if he diversifies his attack. Those punches were definitely a factor the first time around. Buuuut, if he insists on leg locks, I'm sure Alan would nullify that and finish with a sub of his own. That said, I'd be interested in that match. Should make up for the Schaub debacle.
Daaaam, I wonder if he would snap something on purpose if he cought him?
Making over a mill a year on your school alone is incredible. He was a font guy for Lloyd's MMA millionaire program. He may not save money for retirement though. I guess people do tend to live up to their income.
Thing is most of those guys (Lloyd and his whipping boys like Belcher, Avellan & co), all claim/make it look like they are earning or own way more money than they really do. Its half of their 'sales pitch' to bring other dummy school owners into their circle. They act like 'playas' or 'ballers' or whatever bullshite Lloyd likes to call them, but in truth they are no better off than your average school owner. When Belcher is done with fighting he will have nothing. Except maybe some huge bills from the IRS if Lloyds track record is anything to go on. Yep thats right dumb Lloyd lovers, why do you take financial and marketing advice from someone who is in the hole with the IRS? He owes them loads, AND everyone hates his style of marketing/spamming anyway. I will take my advice from real SUCCESSFUL people thanks. Not a dumb fake gangsta predatory power hungry fraudulent piece of total rapist shit like Lloyd Irvin. Not beating around the bush but honestly, those people still down with Lloyd are some of the weakest character dumb ass mother fuckers on the earth. :)
*weekly anti Lloyd rant haha :)
Alan's a good guy. His school is exactly as successful as he says it is. I've seen it. Its only a couple hours from mine and there are guys who cross train with us from his school. You can't blame him for wanting to make a better life for him and his family.
Honestly this Lloyd Irvin fiasco is a huge part of what just completely killed my passion for jiu jitsu. I could never understand why our community would STILL continue to let such a bad person prosper. They jumped all over the scumbag Hermes Franca for similar stuff, however Hermes wasn't lining their pockets. Just went to show me that money basically brought Lloyd out of trouble with the jiu jitsu community. Is that what we are like?
I mean its a VERY political community anyway, always shit going on in some camp or other, but this is a whole new level of scumbaggery we should have jumped all over. The fact TLI continues, and continues to run kids programs is sickening and quite frankly embarrassing.
We take our cues from our instructors/black belts etc, but they all said nothing (apart from Ryan Hall and a couple of others). I can 100% see why Ryan left jiu jitsu. What kind of example does that set?
So many think they are going to be rich jiu jitsu instructors, when in truth their are very few Eddie Bravo's, if any, other than ours. Guys that are really doing well for themselves with jiu jitsu. 98% of your average non multiple world champion jj instructors are living on the breadline. Struggling to make ends meat, make the rent each month etc. Trying to sell t-shirts and stuff constantly just to keep on top of things. So paying Lloyd $5000+ per year for his much hated cheap and nasty marketing techniques will not change that. In fact it will likely hurt it. That 5Gs is a huge chunk out of your rent etc.
In the future (next 10 years or so) unless you are a multiple time world or at least national champion black belt teaching your academy, it likely simply won't survive/do more than break even. So last thing guys need is to be misled into forking out a bunch of coin to Lloyd and his merry sheep for info you can find for free anywhere online, if you can be bothered to look for a second. :)
:)
Well Dana banned Palhares from UFC so he might be looking at other avenues now....
I'm fairly anti Alan belchar. He had the audacity to belt a student of ours (10p bmt) that went to a seminar there. Gi seminar, our student borrowed the gi to do the class, couldn't even tie his belt... They didn't even roll at this seminar and he has still never rolled in the gi.... But they gave him a blue belt. Not cool.
wow are you fucking serious? That is some shady shit right there. Pretty much universally frowned upon in the community (not that that means much nowadays). I would have never got graded under Eddie without clearing it with my bjj/gi instructor first, making sure it was cool on all sides etc. Its a 'fragile' situation when you mix amongst teams. Belcher should know better. :)
He didn't roll at all at the seminar? Is this verifiable, picture, video, signed certificate? I can't understand what Belchers motivation to do something like this would be. Did he offer this person affiliation? It's one thing when you see guys questionably promote ufc fighters but what advantage did Belcher stand to gain by randomly promoting a guy to blue belt at a seminar?
I got sucked into that vortex of shit mailing list from belcher too had to get my self off of it. That was annoying as fuck.
I also find it very disappointing that LI has still somehow remained a part of the JJ community.
No rolling at all. Barncat mentions this incident in the "nogi belts are frauds" thread. It was a Diego Moraes seminar at belchars gym, nobody's even sure if he's supposed to be a belchar blue belt or a Diego Moraes blue belt. This student has never rolled in the gi in his life. If I asked him to show me a bow and arrow, he would come back with an archery set!!
The story sounds really sketchy. I don't mean to insult the guy because obviously I know nothin about him but are you sure this person is telling you the truth. The only reason I'm asking is because regardless of his obnoxious promoting and affiliation with that scumbag LI he is still a legit black belt and respected mma fighter so I feel like the story should be vetted to avoid any unfair dings in his reputation.
Well if there are pictures of belcher handing him a blue belt than that's that. It's very disappointing and I feel bad for any student of his that he ranks.q If stories like this start getting around their legitimacy will be called into question.
I like alan belcher, as a fighter and from what i can tell as a person. I get all the "annoying" emails and most of them are free videos that i enjoy, i really dont buy anything because i feel that money should go to my coaches first. I knew i was signing up for advertisements and im ok with that. I do understand that it can be an annoying tacit.
I hope this blue belt thing turn out to be somehow more nuanced.
lol, forgot about that. It was awhile ago, I was thinking maybe he has a even bigger mansion now.
