Nice breakdown. Isn't the Marcelo Guillotine more of a shallow hold on the neck as opposed to a deep hold, as Rener was showing?
I haven't watched the gracie breakdown, but live, I thought he started Marcelo style and ended up finishing more of a McKenzietine.
i was thinking the same thing Louis Ho.. and he made it sound like you have got to be bigger than the guy you are rolling with but im small and i land that guillotine ALL the time
It looked like the Marcelo guillotine to me also.
Yes. It can be finished with the arm deeper but normally it's right on the sharp part of the forearm with the facing up.
Yes, he went from Darce, to Marcelotine, to McKenzitine
Yea you don't have to be big to get the forearm over the back/elbow lift at all. It's (Marcelo's guillotine) the most effective and versatile guillotine there is.
The choke Jones actually finished Bader with was the Pray guillotine (McKenzietine), but he started with a Darce, then to a Marcelotine first.
I like the Gracie breakdowns a lot. I just wonder if they will break down some of Sots' fights in the future.
Nah, he switched. Look: He clearly changes the grip

These breakdowns are boss.
The breakdowns are something that could actually be incorporated into the UFC itself, IMHO. It could be a feature on the UFC site, or even a feature during the actual broadcast where you have the Gracie brothers breaking down exactly what happened in a previous UFC match. It would be a hell of a lot more entertaining than the 10 minute movie commercials we are sometimes subjected to during a UFC broadcast.
