pyramid fail options

Look at all of the options. But when there is a specific question about the system then go to the source. From the MTS Guide thread there are 5 different references:

There are probably at least a hundred mentions of transitions through the pyramid in all of these episodes also.

I'm not saying don't look at other option. I look at all of the other options also(Marcelo, Pedro Sauer, Draculino, Caio…). When I have a specific question about anything, I go to the guy who does it best to get the answers. I'm not trying to be a douche. But I don't know why guys answer a question with that guys videos when Eddie has his up and Chris Ludington has taken all of that time to make the guide to MTS thread.

I get what youre saying. I think that was my bad for misinterpreting what you meant. I was under the impression that you were against any other tutorials being posted on the subject, rather than what you actually meant. "why post a specific tutorial from someone else, that Eddie has already went over in better detail?" Makes sense now

Yep! Very cool. Thanks. When I write, I try to have the best of intentions and sound as nice as possible. Somehow even when I re-read it, I can see how it sounds douchey. I find myself saying I'm not trying to be a douche, a lot, lol. I'm really not. Glad you got what I was trying to lay down. Check out that MTS episode guide. That dude Chris did a great job on it. The thing is even in alphabetical order! Oh yeah, and it's got links to all of the episodes also. Makes it way to easy.

I honestly think that guide might be the single greatest jiujitsu tool ive found on the internet. It really doesnt get much better than that. Kudos to Eddie and Chris for making that possible. Now that the internet exists.. I cant wait to see where Jiujitsu is in 20 years.

Yup. Straight up copies. This will always be an issue for me. I just prefer to learn from someone who has the nuances of a tech to make it work against an advanced defense. It just grinds my gears when people try to cash in early off of others ideas.

That other kid shows some busted up twister stuff, I would say the majority of twister related stuff on YouTube is brutal besides the 10th Planet guys stuff, so many missed details on important stuff

we were doing some stuff from pyramid the other day. when the guy tries to break through the gap between your foot/ankle and knee, you push an underhook through, pull it to your head and hold on to it with your other arm (overhook) you can use this to get to a pretty tight armbar. you can either do it slowly and grab the arm and then lift your leg around (with the option of taking your free arm and pushing his face away to make it an easier leg swing. or once youve practiced you can swing your leg around when you ge the underhook and it flows really well all into one movement.

I dont think i saw it mentioned on the thread so far so i thought id put it out there.

I love transitions. They trade a fight for a better position. It just seems like one of the more dominant positions. As has been stated, techs have levels.

Which would be more beneficial? Learning to control and finish from pyramid, or transitions from a failed period? Or both? And if it fails, was it a proper pyramid, or a kinda pyramid? When I get to a solid pyramid my percentages are pretty good. This is a genuine question.

Drill the shit outa pyramid, but realistically if you don't RG and your drilled path is wrist control to triangle and your a bad ass with going pyramid to triangle you will still only get there 80%-90% of the time, nothing works 100%. If your newer or not quite a bad ass then it is more like 70%-80%, so that leaves 20-30% of the time getting it busted. Since it is going to get busted you might as well be getting some reps on the next piece of the puzzle. And lets just say the pyramid to triangle(or insert any other position) just doesn't fit into a students game because of this, that, or the other thing, but maybe the the next thing from a failed pyramid fits right into his wheelhouse. Next thing you know he is going to pyramid and and giving it a good rep becuase he is not worried about getting the pyramid busted because if it does he knows that he is bads ass with the next piece. And next thing you know he is hitting pyramid to triangle on a regular basis simply because he is going there and trying on a regular basis. I gave up long ago trying to force a particular style/position/subs on a person, I simply want to give them the pieces and let them piece them together in a manner that works best for them.
