I hear you. Life has priorities. I have career, businesses, and a wife/kids. Jiu jitsu is a passion for me but I have to be realisitic. I’m not going to mundials. Nor do I expect to get a black belt in a short time. But, I want to be as proficient as I can be, esp in the 10P system. I train at a primarily gi academy and make sure I go to the one no-gi class each week. Whether in the gi or out, just being able to roll helps me workout and get reps in using 10P techniques. The fact that no one there really understands the system (other than to smash the hell out of me) helps too...but as I get better, I have been forcing my training partners to start Youtubing the rubber guard and lockdown, in attempts to stop it. I also have started teaching them how to defend it, so that I’m forced to get sharper. Plus, rolling in the gi gives you extra friction, haha!
