Recovery time for an inguinal hernia surgery?

3 weeks ago I had an inguinal hurnia repaired and am starting to feel healed up, no more pain or tenderness. Does anyone have any idea how long I should wait before hitting the mats again? I don't want to tear it open again by prematurely resuming my normal activity.

4 - 6 weeks, that's what the doc recommended after I had surgery.

Yeah I agree with that. Also don't lift anything over 5-10 lbs you wouldn't want it to rupture.

yeah i just had the exact same surgery a month ago. I went back to the gym and started running about three days ago and i'm feeling good, but jits uses a lot of twisting through your core, much more so that general gym work. I'm playing it safe and taking another week, so yeah; five weeks total recovery and then easing back into it with drilling only.

My friend was out for 6 months with his hernia but this is the same guy that has testicular cancer, had a nut removed and 2 weeks later was playing a softball game. Probably not so great for recovery lol
