    Notice how he begins with the hand already to the mat. Take the Free New York. We have worked this guard a fair bit and found that it is good when your opponent locks his hands together and squeezes his elbows to his knees. From there it sets up a nice MG guillotine. As far as Neil Melanson's clamp, we find it too easy to counter.
