Addicted : What does Chris Garry like to do to chill out when he’s not preparing for a fight?
Chris: Watching Mastering the System on the 10th Planet website- quality stuff. I could watch Eddie Bravo instruct at HQ endlessly. Apparently, the chilling out part is much better if you're stoned, but as I remind people who ask me about 10th Planet jiu jitsu, smoking weed is not a specific requirement.
Addicted: Funny you should say that. There's a buzz online about Elements MMA becoming 10th Planet Birmingham and the 2nd UK school for Eddie Bravo's unique brand of jiu jitsu. Can you tell us when this will be happening and what it means to you?
Chris: Well it’s a big move, massive in fact. As a black belt in BJJ under Jean Jacques Machado, Eddie Bravo is respected as a high level grappler in his own right. That he has taken his style on and added so much, and particularly made advances in the guard for MMA, is something that has had our attention as active MMA fighters for some time. Everyone’s buzzing about becoming affiliated, and whilst it’s hard to say an exact date, I can see it becoming official pretty soon. Hopefully it'll attract some high level, open minded grapplers, especially those who actively compete and I feel confident that we will have the UK's first 10th Planet Black belt in Mick Broster. Mick's been a student of the system for many years and is well on his way to truly mastering it. Sean Bollinger has already given a seminar here and there's another one happening 25th February as part of his UK tour. It is open to anyone, not just 10th Planet and Elements MMA guys. So if you’re interested, get in touch and book a place!!
