    Help w/ setting up subs from rubber guard

    I've been going through basic rubber guard, just getting to positions(mission control, meathook, zombie to NY, chill dog, crackhead and attempts for the stock and jiuclaw) but i cant seem to finish transitions to subs any advice on what to do to improve my set ups?

    and more repetition. Get the easiest guy in class and run laps on him. Or convince a higher level to be your training dummy and just run laps on them over and over.

    Dead reps, 50% reps, 80% reps, alive reps. Isolating the transitions and drilling just those parts.

    One simple sub that I got caught with a few times is an arm and neck choke. I was on top and the guy I was rolling with had me in full guard, and as we were fighting for better hand positioning, he slapped my arm across my body and shot up quick, wrapping a front arm and neck choke on me. Twice I fell for that before I started watching out for it.

    Anyways, that kind of submission would be harder to catch on a player that has experience, but anyone can slip up and if you can get the arm across the body and get your choke wrapped up quick, it works.

    every time i figure something out from rubberguard i realize how much i didn't know before. everyone is right on with the reps, that is the key as it leads to the understanding.

    most of my guard finishes involve some sort of rubber path. make sure to drill the standard path to the omoplata but also variants for their different arm positions and your hip positions because they will stack you all kinds of ways.

    if the hips are out to the rubber side, the omoplata path is set up and all variations ( meathook triangle, gogo, etc ) the hips being on the non rubber side ( usually when they stack ) gives you the shoulder locking armbars ( the croc series )

    make sure you are keeping tight in your transitions, and using as much of your body as possible to move between them. ex: your posture and back is involved in clearing the neck to chill dog and your leg curls are going to determine whether or not someone is going to be able to hold up or pass your stuff.

    it's all about the details but the reps will make you comfortable enough to focus on them.
