im really new to Martial Arts

when you join a jiu jitsu school how does the tornament entry go? is it if your teacher thinks your ready to join one you can do it and he'll pay for the traveline cost and entry cost (if there is one,im new to this sport) and you do it. or if you hear theres one you have to go find a way to get there yourself? im sorry if im being hard to understand.i just really want to know how to make a living doing something I love.

no one is going to force you into any tournament, it is up to you to decide. Entering tournament is encouraged, you get to see what the level of competition is out there and you gain experience. You are held accountable for the expenses.

I guess what im really asking is. is there a system like boxing in the fact that your coach picks fights. and then he helps you prepare for it.
