Yeah I hear ya. I dont really understand why ibjjf tourneys are so popular. Not sure how a business model can survive when half your paying customers are DQ'd at any given event for what are becoming common positions in no gi grappling. I personally would not do one but only cus I know id get dq'd in the first 30 secs for reaping.

Because people have been told it is the most prestigious. On the Atama Forum at MMA.TV there is a thread explaining the history of the IBJJF and what a crock it is. We really need a NON-profit Org to put on a legitimate world championship that isn't just trying to make money. That way there could be more outside sponsorships and the entire solvency of the institution doesn't rely on the actual competitors paying the bills.

Nice and thanks ya I heard about the leg lock thing. We got a teenager that would love to compete at it. I guess we have to get our cards and get them signed.

I think Chris is the only one that would have to be a member, it shows that Juveniles need to be currently registered, Better get on that. With how slowly IBJJF tends to move, 2 months may be barely enough time.

This tournament is supposed to show who the best is, but how can someone be their best if they don't have to defend against every possible position/submission, I still plan on doing won when I get my blue belt though.

I know right. It felt amazing to throw my leg over the girls hip at NAGA the other day and in my head I was like, "muahahahaha I can't get DQ'd here!" yeah, I actually said that to myself. Been DQ'd in the past. Going to step away from the leg lock game for the next month...its in my muscle memory...I hardly even go for ankle locks anymore...all heels and toe holds and its gonna get me in trouble. So...maybe drill my straight foot locks...just have to keep that leg from not reaping the knee. Can't we petition this dumb ass rule?

Also...im not sure you guys need cards? We didnt have one when gab did it and meg didn't have one last year (maybe they changed the rule?) We simply just needed for a black belt to officially register himself as a black belt from our school and we used his name during registration to identify our team. No cards or anything like that...did have to show ID though (drivers license etc) which was kinda crazy. Also you don't weigh in till you step on the mat. No night before etc.

Thanks for all the info brother, Im pretty sure we dont need the cards and we can just sign up under Denny. I am excited to compete and let them know 10th planet is in the building, i might electric chair someone and get dq'd.
