I'm trying to add it to my game, but of course now I hear it's considered reaping the knee. Still gonna keep practicing it, I love all of Marcelo's stuff.

It's not reaping the knee, but in competition if the guy turns away to defend and you move with them to maintain position, it can look like reaping and I've had two friends DQ'd for that even though it was BS.

    That was awesome thanks.

Do you think this stupid knee reaping rule will ever be lifted?

Not in IBJJF. I laugh just thinking about it, but it's like the Gracie lineage has been anti leg locks since Fadda showed them up over 50 years ago. And honestly, reaping the knee is just the best way to execute leg locks. They know that. I've been reaping knees before I hit the 6th month in my training and I've NEVER injured anyone. Why? Competent teaching. It's not rocket science. If reaping were that dangerous, 90% of SAMBO competitors would be crippled, don't you think?

Imagine if the IBJJF said, armbars are legal but you can't put two legs across the body. Now imagine they made that rule because some local school came to a Barra school and tapped everyone via spiderweb. That's kinda how I see BJJ's negligence of leg locks and "fear" of reaping.

IBJJF will never lift the reaping rule.
