So according to the OFFICIAL Metamoris stat sheet, Barnett is listed at 6'0" 259 pounds, and (this part always makes me chuckle) 95% Catch Wrestling, 75% Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, 70% Wrestling, 85% Conditioning.
Ryron is listed as 6'3" 195 pounds, coming in at a hefty 95% Gracie Jiu Jitsu, 90% Submission Defense, a comparably lax 40% Wrestling, and 90% Conditioning.
So
there you have it. We have our match on paper. According to my calculations, if we were to run a computer simulation based on these statistics, Josh Barnett will attempt to take Ryron down and succeed, but Ryron will neutralize his Catch Wrestling with good ol' fashioned GJJ. Barnett's BJJ will not be able to trump Ryron's submission defense, as it turns out, given the sizable 15% difference in Barnett's BJJ rating vs. Ryron's submission defense rating. Ryron will presumably be on defense the majority of the time, but we can expect that 85% thru the match, at say ohh...the 22-23 minute mark (keep in mind that it's a 25 minute match), Barnett will gas out, at which point Ryron's 5% advantage in conditioning will come into play as he is able to gain positional advantage and secure the submission. So there you have it. We have our victor. And it's backed by statistics, so what else can we say?
