I trained in the gi at a Renzo Gracie affiliate some years ago and as a beginner was constantly finding my guard being passed by the bigger guys. Fortunately, I would be able to snatch a leg and maintain half guard, but from there I had no plan. Half guard wasn't much of an offensive position or so I thought, until one day looking for answers at the local bookstore. After searching the shelves through the plethora of Gracie books and others for possible answers, the only one with any type of game plan was Eddie. I was familiar with the name through Joe Rogan's commentary during the UFC broadcasts and with the techniques I found in Jiu-Jitsu Unleashed, I was able to perceive the position in a new way. No longer was it a dead zone to just try and replace guard, it was a place that offered me an offensive strategy to move forward. As a smaller guy, it was a blessing to see. Eddie was the ONLY one at the time offering these types of techniques and for that I am extremely thankful. Changed everything about the way I play jiu jitsu. Thanks Eddie!!!
