I can relate via reverse comparison a lil. When I finally put on a gi i was confused by my opponents grips. I still used over and unders and they still worked fine so I wasn't exactly lost though, but if I had to use grips It would def be strange.

First Roger Gracie admits "80% of BJJ doesn't work in MMA" and now this quote from Leo Santos, whoa, that's some pretty deep stuff right there. Just those 2 quotes alone smash the gi/no-gi argument to bits.

Maybe the traditionalists will get off our back now for focusing on jiu jitsu without handles

That's exactly what I'm going through right now. Switched my training to 10th Planet Saint Paul this week, and it's definitely been interesting training without the gi. I like it a lot. Much faster paced, more transitions, and much more exciting IMO. It's definitely going to take some time to get used to training nogi, but I'm looking forward to it.

In the foreword of Marcelo Garcia's book he said he was completely lost without the gi at first. And he was a brown belt when he actually started training without the gi

Thanks Eddie! Been a big fan for awhile, but after attending the seminar at NLC in Saint Paul I was really hooked in. My only regret is not switching sooner. Looking forward to seeing you again in Omaha.

Awesome quote man - I love seeing how these BJJ monsters adapt to nogi grappling and really excel. They're really like 2 different sports, yet guys like Leo Santos and Marcelo Garcia dominate both.
