Why are you asking this question to a bunch of guys on a forum? Go ask a Dr. , IMO.

Take a few days off and rest. You'll get headaches because of exactly what you said, most probably, that sounds pretty hard to recover from!

BUT, if it's hurting in 2/3 days, go the doctor dude. I know it'll cost but it's worth it

Yeah ...i posted a thread about my knee before......knee popped on the outside part of my knee (LCL) and i went to the Dr. and he took x-rays but i looked good. Just had surgery on my face so he said since i wont be training that it would be a good to time to just do nothing and let it heal.........might sound weird but it is the little twist and pops and sprains that take the longest to heal......you know your body and probably would know best when its time to return

Cut your legs off and your knees will stop bothering you.

Is this your first sport? Welcome to the world of athletics man. The pain lessens over time as your body acclimates to what you put it through.

But "Open head surgery"? wtf. go see a doctor. What happened that you needed surgery?

Hit up the doc in a few days just to be safe with the previous medical procedure. Better safe than sorry. I would rest the knee up.
