The original Buddhist Dharma has been distorted by people writing down their own level of understanding rather than the original words. As a result India did not have Buddhism later on. Prior to its disappearance, Buddhism has gone though many reforms. It was integrated with something from Brahmanism and eventually became India's present day religion called Hinduism.
