ALSO, again, does anyone know what Rener's real experience is in competition?
He has no wiki and he isn't on Grappling heroes.
I don't really think he's competed much (or at all) since 2003 or so. It may be just because they wanted to shift their focus to teaching etc, and I never felt that his dad really got into those guys ever having a loss either. I do remember when he showed up to Tinguinha's So Cal Classic in 2004 and got on the mike and talked up the Gracie International having their "new rules" (as usual). I didn't see him compete in the So Cal Classic, and at the Gracie International he was running the tournament. His brothers did compete in that one. I think that was the one where Ryron won the thing by slam. I remember Ralek getting almost shut out. I've never seen Rener compete in any tournament held in Southern California from 2004 on. There is record of him competing prior to that. For the most part, he has been/is mainly a teacher both live, and now on-line. He's a pretty nice guy to meet in person. I wouldn't mind learning some details on the basics from him.
So, if you want to see Master Bravo go technical roll or friendly compete against any top talent, just look at the recent ADCC or Mundial's podiums. The closest in the area that is about his weight would be Cobrinha. But, more along the lines of some older guys that were top talent at one time that are also near by who would be fun to watch - the first I would think of would be Nino Schembri who is in the LA area, he's got more weight on Eddie Bravo though. Marcio Feitosa is pretty light and was legit. Franjinha Miller is roughly the same age as Eddie, but middle heavy or so. There's always the master's master JJM too!
